Ferienhaus Islen

The Bregenzerwald is known for its modern wooden buildings and high quality craftsmanship. An example of this architecture, combining innovation and tradition, is the house Islen in the municipality of Mellau. Islen is based on the TINN-system and consists of prefabricated module boxes. Everything that could possibly be done with wood has been accomplished here – from stairs to thresholds and beams, modular systems and furniture. Islen is an elaborate showroom of richly varied craftsmanship. A great emphasis was placed on sustainability and ecology, using only native wood and natural materials. For the surfaces of wet areas on the building’s exterior a new material made of rice husk has been used. High quality craftsmanship sets apart this holidays home’s minimalist, straight-lined interior design. The timber construction of local spruce has the fragrance of the forest. Sheep’s wool felt curtains provide a pleasant warmth and nothing prevents exchange between interior and exterior.

Islen is a semi-detached house with room for six or eight people, each with their own sauna. The houses have a similar floor plan: kitchen and the living room with a dining area are located on the ground floor, bedrooms and a lounge with TV chill-out area are upstairs. Both houses feature a large covered veranda with access to the ski and bike room on the ground floor and to the sauna upstairs. House Islen is situated right on the bank of the river Mellenbach overlooking meadows and the Kanisfluh.

What to do

Winter: skiing and snowboarding. Cross country skiing and snowshoeing starts from the front door. Summer: hiking, paragliding, mountain biking, canyoning. Bregenz Festival and Schubertiade.

Ein wunderschönes, durchdachtes Haus. Gleich beim eintreten riecht man schon das Holz. Jeder Winkel, jedes Detail passt zusammen.
