The SOON appartements are located in the historic city of Simmern in Hunsrück. The narrow town house from the 50s originally housed a shop for electronic appliances as well as a music store and later a pharmacy. After several years of vacancy, the house was renovated and rebuilt. The former pharmacist’s premises was converted into five apartments – two 60 sqm apartments facing onto the courtyard, with a terrace and balcony, and three smaller studios overlooking the street.
The rooms are light and welcoming, their predominant white punctuated by black contrasts and linear furniture giving a clean, modern atmosphere. Selected 1950s chairs and lamps provide a lovely contrast while at the same time recalling the building´s history. The ground-floor of the former pharmacy houses a multi-purpose room with a kitchen, which can be hired additionally. Throughout the house there are photos from the Heimat film series by the German film director Eduard Reitz. The house is quietly situated in the pedestrian zone and has a rooftop terrace with views of the countryside, Schinderhannes Tower and to the Stephans church.
What to do
Hiking in the Hunsrück (Soonwaldsteig), trips to Bacharach and Oberwesel and Traben-Trarbach on the Mosel and in the larger cities to Koblenz, Mainz, Trier and Frankfurt.
Middle Rhine, Rheinhessen, Nahe and Mosel - four wine regions are close to the Hunsrück. Also the Rheingau, the Ahr and the Saar are worth a day trip.
