arthotel Blaue Gans

The “Blaue Gans” (blue goose) in the heart of Salzburg’s Old Town is the city’s oldest inn. Hidden behind 600-year-old walls you will find an art & design hotel which, while thoroughly modern, has expertly preserved its historical heritage.

Through careful renovations, grown structures were made visible. The modern interiors of the rooms let the vaulted stucco ceilings, marble floors, baroque doors and historic timber beams take centre stage, meanwhile ensuring that you never feel like you’re living in a museum. The 120 modern works of art that are distributed throughout the building add a cosmopolitan and urban flair.

In addition to the hotel rooms there are also three apartments – all individually designed and again combining the old with the new. The hotel features a conference room located in a glass house in the courtyard next to the herb garden. And when dining out, you’ll be spoiled for choice between the restaurant with its vaulted ceiling, original wall panelling and murals, the brasserie bar with its classy metropolitan ambience, the atmospheric wine cellar, or – in good weather – the guest garden overlooking the Mönchsberg.
