You will find the Breac.House B&B in the harsh, rugged landscape of the Horn Head peninsula on the northern tip of the Republic of Ireland, with sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean and the Derryveagh Mountains. The design of the houses integrates it with the landscape and provides for flowing transitions between inside and out. Its dark wood panelling, reminiscent of traditional timber longhouses, draws on the colours of the surrounding rocky heathland. The sauna was inspired by celtic sweathouses and the shape of the roof by the profile of Muckish Mountain which the B&B looks out onto. Each of the four double rooms offers views of the coast and includes a private terrace. The communal heart of the house is the open plan living room with a kitchen, dining room and fireplace. The double height dining room offers beautiful views across the bay. The high-quality interiors were made from local natural materials by Irish craftsmen and include custom-made oak furniture, hand-woven tweed textiles and handmade crockery.

We, Cathrine Burke and Niall Campbell, have been coming to this part of Donegal and wanted to introduce to people from all over the world. Our vision for Breac.House is simple – we want visitors to this beautiful and unique part of the world to leave with a real connection to the place, it’s people and it’s heritage. Our approach has been to ensure that everything our guests see, touch, taste and experience during their time with us represents the very best that Donegal has to over. This starts with the house itself and follows through to furniture, art, food and our seaweed bath and wood fired sauna.

Das Breac.House ist ein wunderbarer Rückzugsort, der sich perfekt in die spektakuläre Küstenlandschaft einbettet. Cathrine und Niall sind wunderbare Gastgeber und verleihen dem Ganzen eine sehr persönliche Note. Gleichzeitig sind sie diskret genug und sorgen für kulinarische Höhepunkte zum Frühstück und Picnic. Es ist alles vorhanden, von der 2er Sauna über ausgewählte Designobjekte, heimischen Gin bis zum praktischen Boot Room. Wir kommen wieder!

Wir hatten im August 2018 das Glück, 5 Tage in diesem wunderbaren Haus zu verbringen. Die konsequente und hochwertige architektonische Gestaltung des gesamten Hauses hat uns sehr begeistert, auch die Tatsache, dass alles von hoch motivierten, fähigen regionalen Handwerkern gebaut und eingerichtet wurde. Die herzliche Gastfreundschaft von Cathrine und Niall und die geistvollen und anregenden Gespräche am Kamin mit Whiskey-Tasting haben wir außerordentlich genossen, ebenso das ganz besondere Frühstück und das seltene Vergnügen eines entspannenden Seaweed-Bades. In dem großzügigen, wunderbar eingerichteten Zimmer mit phantastischer Aussicht haben wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Danke!

Wunderschönes B&B mit sehr herzlichen Gastgebern. Die Zimmer bieten einen sagenhaften Ausblick auf die Meeresbucht sowie die typische irische Landschaft. Die Räumlichkeiten sind lichtdurchflutet, sehr einladend, grosszügig und doch “schlicht” gestaltet – weniger ist mehr…..
Die beiden Gastgeber Cathrine & Niall trugen mit ihrer gastfreundlichen, offenen Art ebenso zu einem mehr als gelungenen Aufenthalt in Breac.house bei. Kulinarische Highlights war nicht nur das hervorragende und wunderschön angerichtete Frühstück mit allerlei selbstgemachtem, ebenso so der Lunch-Rucksack überraschte uns mit Selbstgebackenem und wärmender Suppe. Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt in Breac.house sehr genossen und werden gerne wieder kommen…….
