With a wide view of the Vosges mountain range, this holiday house is situated on a slope in the middle of the Black Forest. The old building, in which the family who own and operate the property used to distill spirits, has been renovated and turned into a modern holiday home.
As the owner is a carpenter, it should not come as a surprise that wood plays an essential role in the design of the house. Most of the timber comes from parts of the forest also owned by the family, and different types of wood can be seen throughout the interior and exterior of the house. The furniture and wooden wall on the ground floor are made from ash. The stairs and floors on the upper floor of heartwood beech. On the walls of the hallway on the first floor there are old stable boards, and in the bathrooms sea pine. The concrete floors on the ground floor, the back of the oven made of bronze mirrors, and the copper plates on the wall of the stairwell, create interesting contrasts.
On the ground floor you will find an open living, dining and cooking area. There are two bedrooms in the attic and a sleeping gallery beneath the rafters. An outdoor terrace offers beautiful views of the mountain panorama.
