Brücke 49 Herberge

With their B&B Brücke 49 in the Swiss mountain village of Vals, Ruth Kramer and Thomas Schacht have won the hearts of design lovers. Now they are offering additional holiday apartments in the neighbouring house. With Brücke 49 Herberge they continue to develop their successful style concept – the fusion of alpine architecture and Scandinavian design.

The 18th century house with its weathered façade and granite roof has been extensively renovated and rebuilt. On the first and second floors, two 120m2 apartments with two bedrooms each have been created. Partition walls have been removed except for the timber framed construction, so that the living room, dining room and corridor merge seamlessly into each other and appear more generous. An 80m2 loft has been constructed under the roof. It consists of a large room, only the bathroom is separate. Not only the cast-iron fireplace stoves, one in each of the three apartments, create a cosy atmosphere: the interior design also plays an important role. Muted colours – sometimes light, sometimes dark – create a peaceful ambience. The predominantly Danish-made furnishings are a skilful mixture of modern and nostalgic, with an urban touch that blends perfectly into the rustic atmosphere of the building.

The former stable has also been renovated and is now used as a venue for yoga sessions, meetings or workshops.
