Altes Schulhaus

With a wide view over green pastures, the holiday home Altes Schulhaus is situated on a dwelling mound in the heart of Eiderstedt, a peninsula in the German federal state of Schleswig-Holstein. It shares the idyllic location on the extensive property surrounded by a canal with the Friesensteern, an old barn that has been converted into a holiday home. In the past, the teacher used to live in the small house, where he also taught the children living in the vicinity. Now the completely renovated cottage is a cosy holiday home, which offers space for four people on 65 square metres.

Iselhof-Stadel

Mountain world & city life, tradition & modernity—a holiday at Iselhof in Lienz in East Tyrol has many facets. You live in the midst of greenery, but it only takes a few minutes to walk to the centre of the small town. The listed ensemble consisting of a 13th century manor house, a historical Stadl (the former farmhouse) and the contemporary Villa Notsch is situated on a huge plot of land directly adjacent to the glacial river Isel. The historical Stadl was refurbished and converted into residential units. It gives now home to two holiday flats.

Haus Wanderlust

Friesensteern

Maison Bergdorf

A wildly romantic, park-like garden surrounds the Maison Bergdorf in the Swiss town of Interlaken in the Bernese Oberland. The villa was built in 1897 as a holiday home for a Canadian entrepreneur in the traditional chalet style. The owners, Stéphane Houlmann and Mirko Beetschen, have completely renovated the house and have added their own flair to the rooms through an interior design that skilfully plays with colours, shapes and materials.

Wasserturm Pirach

Wasserturm Pirach is a landmark in the foothills of the Bavarian Alps between the Lake Chiemsee and the Waginger Lake. With a height of almost 30 metres, the water tower presides over the houses of the hamlet of Pirach. Its façade of silver-coloured sheet steel panels, which protects this 1950s-built structure from the elements, makes for a striking visual impact.

Türalihus

The Türalihus is part of a historic ensemble of buildings in the centre of Valendas, Switzerland. This small mountain village on the banks of the Rhine in the Safien Valley is known for its stately town houses. First built in 1485, the Türalihus has been extended multiple times over the centuries – with annexes, additional levels, and the stairwell from which the house derives its name. The house stood empty from 1941 until 2007, when the Swiss “Vacations in a Listed Building” Foundation acquired it from the son of the well-known Swiss architect Rudolf Olgiati and transformed it into the holiday home it is today.

Gasthof zum Riesen

Gasthof zum Riesen is a house full of history. Since the 14th century, this former pilgrims’ hostel has stood in the centre of Tarsch, a village in the Vintschgau region of South Tyrol. Over the course of the past centuries, the stone house has been rebuilt and extended several times. A few years ago it was extensively renovated with great attention to detail – and where necessary supplemented with modern additions.
