Modern

Larix Lodge

The Larix Lodge in the village of La Villa (Stern) in Alta Badia is modern, yet rooted in tradition. The wooden façade, loggia and gable roof relate to the characteristic features of the region’s buildings, but at the same time the building has an independent, contemporary character. Each of the three holiday flats opens up to the southwest with large window fronts and its own outdoor space facing the mountain panorama.

Casa Salvati

Casa Salvati is part of an ensemble of three holiday homes built by the architects Alberto Salvati and Ambrogio Tresoldi in 1972 on a hill on the western shore of Lake Garda. An important element of Salvati and Tresoldi’s work was the use of colour. Thus, the white cube welcomes visitors with a bright yellow staircase. At the back, a cube-shaped blue balcony boldly protrudes from the façade.

Haus Wald

The name gives away the location: The holiday home in Neustift in the Tyrolean Stubai Valley is situated on the edge of a forest. The Stubai Glacier, Austria’s largest glacier skiing area, is only a 10-minute drive away. The house has a modern and clean design both inside and out, yet it is still connected to tradition through the use of local materials such as larch and stone pine wood.

STRANDWEISS & STRANDGRAU

Casas da Vargem

With sweeping views of the sea, Casas da Vargem sit in a sunny location on a hillside above the village centre of Ponta do Sol on Madeira’s south coast. The semi-detached house was built on two stone warehouses that had fallen into ruin. They were reconstructed and supplemented with cubic volumes of similar dimensions that cascade down the terrain, creating patios in between.

Mosel Chalets

The Moselle Chalets in Pommern, one of the oldest wine-growing villages on the Moselle, appeal not only to wine lovers but also to people with an interest in modern architecture. With their straightforward design, the three wooden houses are set apart from the traditional half-timbered architecture of the region. Since it was important to host Holger Maurer to integrate the view of the Moselle valley into the interiors, the houses are completely glazed on the side facing the valley…

Tiny House Laresch

Pensiun Laresch has grown! The Tiny House expands the facilities of the mountain lodge that Marianne Peyer and Lukas Hug opened in 2015 in Mathon, a village in the Beverin Nature Park, Switzerland. The little house is in dialogue with both the landscape and the main building. With its wooden shingle façade, it has a different feel than the mountain lodge, which is reminiscent of a rock, while the asymmetrical roof shape connects both houses. Just as with Pensiun Laresch, a lot of emphasis was placed on sustainability when designing the Tiny House.
