The Benedikta holiday home in the village of Vadans in the southern part of Vorarlberg is a typical Montafon house. The hostess has converted the building, the former home of her grandmother Benedikta, into a holiday home, thus creating a place that preserves memories and traditions, while at the same time offering space for new uses.

Loftsuite & Turmloft am Walensee

The Loft Suite and the Tower Loft are two holiday flats in a historic factory building of an old spinning mill on Lake Walen in eastern Switzerland. The former factory halls and warehouses, where cotton yarn was produced until 1996, have been converted into lofts, studios, commercial spaces and a hotel. The holiday flats are affiliated to the hotel and have a similar design: modern and unpretentious with an industrial atmosphere.

Staying in the ilse.dein landloft apartment feels like living in the countryside—but with an urban touch! On the island of Rügen, Maike and Ralf Haug converted a historical farmhouse located near the residential town of Putbus and now live in part of the building themselves. They have converted the former stable into a 120-square-metre holiday apartment. Its name reminds of the owner, Ilse, who lived in the farmhouse all her life. Today, Ilse would barely recognise her old barn. Chasa Padrun

In the village of Guarda, Switzerland appears as if taken right from the pages of a storybook. The village, situated on a sunny south-facing terrace high above the River Inn in the Canton of Grisons, is the home of the Swiss children’s book classic Schellen-Ursli and is famous for its historical village centre. Kambra

Surrounded by hills, Kambra house is situated in a small Slovenian village not far from the Italian border and the Adriatic coast. Stones characterise not only the karst landscape, but also the building, which from the inside appears to be growing from the rocks. The stone walls and openings and the oak roof structure have been preserved in their original state, while modern elements made of concrete, wood and steel have been added.
