The Büdnerhaus in the village of Born on the Darss peninsula of Germany’s Baltic coastline rests on the foundational walls of a house dating back to 1792. The owners had actually planned to restore the original building.

This holiday home can be found in a secluded spot in the unspoiled countryside of the Finnish region of Karelia: in the middle of a forest and directly by lake Santara. The property consists of a residential house and sauna connected by a terrace.

Located in the Baltic Sea resort of Prerow, this holiday home is a modern interpretation of the typical reed-thatched house. As the reeds not only cover the roof but also gables and side walls, the house has a monolithic character.

La Mugletta is a modern B&B in the Euganean hills of Northern Italy, not far from Padua, Vicenza and Venice. The interplay of nature and architecture was integral to the design of the building.

With a broad view of the Dolomites, the Parkhotel Holzner is located on a sunny plateau above the South Tyrolean town of Bolzano. Built in 1908 in Alpine Art Noveau style and family-owned for four generations, the hotel has been progressively renovated and expanded over the past century.

In South Tyrol's wine village Caldaro, Verena Huf has transformed a 1970s guesthouse into a stylish B&B. ‘Das Wanda’ bears the name of a former inn on the island of Elba that belonged to the grandfather. Her B&B radiates the same Mediterranean mood.
