“Das Winterquartier” (the winter quarters) located in the Brandenburg village Dechtow is worth a trip at every season. The 1883 built barn of an old farm has been converted into a spacious holiday home and now includes two apartments which can be booked individually or together. The old substance of the building has been preserved as much as possible. The vaulted ceilings and beams have been made visible and give the house its rustic ambience. Wooden hatches being typical for an old barn are now used as interior shutters. The doors are reminiscent of the old barn doors and you also find a typical front door. The courtyard has been restored as well and shows the old pavement following the removal of the grown topsoil.
The Winterquartier can be rented as a spacious holiday home or as two separate apartments. The whole house offers guests 200 sqm of living space with two large living rooms with open kitchens as well as three bedrooms and three bathrooms. With a mobile wall, the house can be separated into two apartment of 100 sqm each. The fenced garden is like an outdoor living room with barbecue and smoker. In the old “Milchküche” a football table and table tennis are ready for a match.

Für uns stellte sich sofort beim betreten der Unterkunft ein Wohlgefühl ein. Alles ist sehr schön und wertig gestaltet. Unser Hund “Phoebe” war genau wie wir begeistert von der Umgebung. Phoebe natürlich noch viel mehr von “Liesbeth” der Hauskatze.

This place is quite a find. Only an hour from Berlin (!) it feels utterly calm and very close to nature. Sunflowers, storks, lakes…. we never thought a simple hayfield could be so achingly beautiful. Our two dogs were in heaven and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay this week in the Remise. After just this brief stay we felt thoroughly rejuvenated and ready to face big-city life again.
The house is a marvel of modern design, classy, tasteful, contemporary, an aesthetic delight but also eminently practical, not to mention the wonderful garden that Frau Winter has put so much time, effort and love into. Indeed, one of the other visitors said it best:
Man spürt, dass die Gastgeber mit viel Erfahrung und Liebe zum Detail dieses Brandenburger Juwel geschaffen haben und sehr herzlich und aufmerksam auf Wünsche eingehen.

We had a wonderful time! The house is perfect – spacious, with everything you might need. It is quiet, with a beautiful garden. Berlin and Potsdam are less than an hour away and it was a joy coming back after a day in the city. The hosts are very friendly and happy to help. Highly recommended!

Wir waren mit 3 Paaren und 2 Kindern zu Gast bei Frau Winter und waren begeistert. Das Haus ist sehr liebevoll restauriert und sehr modern gestaltet. Es gibt 3 Schlafzimmer mit sehr bequemen Boxspringbecken und je einem tollen und großzügigem Bad. Die Küche ist sehr gut eingerichtet und den vorhandenen Grill haben wir häufig genutzt. Wenn etwas fehlt, hilft Frau Winter gerne. Drinnen und draußen gibt es viele Sitzgelegenheiten im Schatten und in der Sonne. Die Lage ist im Hinterhof, so dass man seine Ruhe hat. Die Kinder hatten viel Spaß beim Tischkicker und Tischtennis. Es gibt auch viele kleine Badeseen in der Nähe (ca. 5 km). Berlin und Potsdam sind in weniger als einer Stunde gut zu erreichen. Wir danken unseren Gastgebern und hatten wirklich eine tolle und entspannte Zeit.

Familientreffen im Winterquartier, wir hätten keinen besseren Ort wählen können. Das großzügige und super ausgestattete Haus hat uns fünf Erwachsenen und zwei Hunden alle Möglichkeiten für einen entspannten Kurzurlaub geboten, Tischtennisturnier, Spieleabende, lecker kochen und grillen und einfach mal nichts tun und im schönen Garten entspannen. Die sehr sympathischen Gastgeber haben alles so vorbereitet, dass der Urlaub sofort beginnen konnte, wir kommen bestimmt wieder.
