The Austrian municipality of Sulzberg sits in an exposed location on a mountain plateau with panoramic views of the mountains of the Bregenz Forest, the Swiss Alps and the Allgäu. House Fink – a private residence for a family with three holiday apartments with separate entrances – is located at the edge of the village. The house is based on a typical Bregenzerwald house, but local traditions and craftsmanship have been interpreted in a modern way. With its unconventional shape the building blends harmoniously into the hillside.
Wood is the dominant material – both outside and inside: the façade which is structured by horizontal window bands consists of white pine shingles, and the apartments have wooden floors, walls as well as ceilings. Modern furniture ensures that the look is not too rustic. The smallest apartment Säntis can accommodate up to three people, the apartments Hochgrat and Pfänder have space for up to six people.
What to do
The house is located at the beginning of picturesque hiking trails and extensive cross-country ski trails. Skiing, mountain biking, golfing ....
Why we like this house
Modern timber construction inspired by traditional “Wälder” houses.
