Guesthouse Landgoed Sint Pieter

Holidays on a vineyard in the Netherlands – that sounds quite unusual at first, although wine-growing in the Limburg region has a centuries-old tradition. But the stay in the guesthouse on the 9-hectare Sint Pieter wine estate in the south of Maastricht is nevertheless an exceptional experience. The little house on the edge of the forest consists of two concrete containers stacked on top of each other. The 38-square-metre Tiny House is half hidden in the ground, only the upper container is visible.

Nature makes sure that this part also blends in with the surroundings. The walls are overgrown with ivy and the roof with sedum. Inside, raw concrete gives way to warm wood, which envelops the floors, walls and ceilings and provides storage space in the form of built-in cupboards and shelves. A panoramic window allows a view of the wide surroundings and the city, thus expanding the perceived living space. The ground floor accommodates the living area with a sofa bed and the kitchen. In the basement, there is the bedroom with a double bed (with extra-long mattress), which is lit via the transparent ceiling, and a shower room. The house has an outdoor seating area, but guests can also enjoy the entire property. Those who like can harvest vegetables from the garden or drink a glass of wine between the vines.

What to do

The historical city of Maastricht with shops, restaurants, cafes and museums can be reached by foot in about 20 minutes. Bicycle tours, hiking, St. Peter’s Caves, Fort Sint Pieter, several golf courses in the area, day trip to the town of Valkenburg only 15 km away (castle ruins, Velvet Cave, the oldest open-air theatre in the Netherlands, thermal baths).

Why we like this house

Although the guesthouse is a small place, it offers expansive views and plenty of open space right outside the front door. The location at the Sint Pietersberg nature reserve and close to the lively, historical city of Maastricht make it a wonderful combination of a nature holiday and a city trip.

This house is great for

Couples and small families. The vineyard can be booked as a wedding location.
