Guesthouse Gut Ziegelhof
Close to the Elbe, in the midst of pastures, fields and the wide open marshland, the three thatched gables of the historic estate Ziegelhof proudly reach for the North Sea sky. The Ziegelhof is one of the major historical Lower Saxony farms between the Elbe and Oste. The ensemble consisting of four buildings is under preservation order and has been completely restored in painstaking work for many years. In the former calf barn an exclusive holiday home has been created: a 110-square-meters, rustic hideaway with open studwork, ancient floorboards, fireplace, sauna, hot tub and a cosy alcove. The wide view over horse pastures and marshes rounds out the perfect holiday idyll!

Why we like this house
Stylish gem in a listed ensemble surrounded by nature.
Jens discovered the Ziegelhof several years ago and converted it into a large holiday guesthouse. He had loved the traditional houses of northern Germany, their half-timbered design and thatched roofs, since he was a boy growing up in the region. Having lived elsewhere in Europe, as well as in Africa, Japan and the USA, he knew immediately that the Ziegelhof was the right spot for him. Jens trained as a journalist and now works as a communications consultant. His aim here is to allow his guests to leave the noisy, stressful world behind for a few days and enjoy the landscape, the estate’s farmyard and the surrounding nature behind the Elbe river dam. He is actively supported in this pursuit by his five-year-old daughter Johanna, their two horses Bruno and Falko, their pony Paula and their farm dog Callas.
