Since the 16th century, the Kesslerstadl has stood near the village church in the centre of Matrei in East Tyrol. From the outside, it is hardly noticeable that the former hay barn, a listed building, now houses two modern holiday flats. The BergsteigerSEIN flat, located on the upper floor of the former barn, is accessed via the back of the building, which is nestled against the slope. The terrace leads into the large living room, which is characterised by old beams, bright spruce panelling, straight-lined fixtures made of black multiplex boards and a large window front with a loggia behind it. Behind the kitchen unit there is a large cupboard space where everything from luggage to hiking gear can be stored. A few steps lead down to two bedrooms with sleeping berths and associated bathrooms. A cool accommodation for up to seven mountain enthusiasts that cleverly revisits the conventional concept of an alpine refuge.

The second holiday flat, Sauwohl, is located in the former pigsty in the basement and faces the vegetable garden. A colour composition with white and natural tones on walls and furniture adds brightness to the rooms. In the front area of the flat are the kitchen with dining area and the living space. At the rear is the bedroom and the bathroom (with a free-standing bathtub), which is separated by glass blocks. The furnishings include antique pieces and furniture and built-in units made by a carpenter.

Note:  There is a function room on the ground floor of the barn. This is only rented out if the holiday flats are not occupied or if it is additionally booked as coworking space.
