La Manufacture Royale
Located in the narrow streets of the medieval little town Montolieu you will find an imposing building: La Manufacture Royale. Spend your holidays in the historic ambience of a former linen factory, which was built in 1793 by King Louis XV. Most of the features of the building have been kept in their original condition, such as the monumental staircase, the old fireplaces, the floors with stone tiles and the impressive vaulted cellar. But you don’t feel like you’re in a museum thanks to the unconventional mix of furniture of different periods: Modern design has been combined with vintage pieces and antique details. Children are welcome as well, and they find lots to discover in the large garden through which even a river runs. Meanwhile, the adults can relax in a deck chair or hammock; perhaps reading a book since Montolieu is known as the “book village” and has numerous bookshops, a book museum as well as a book market.
What to do
