It’s time to sur­round yourself with greenery! Summer is here at last, and there’s nothing nicer than the heady scent of meadows and trees, flowers and warm wood. If you prefer not to camp but still want to get as close as pos­sible to nature, you will find here some far more com­for­table ways of living beneath a leafy canopy – in the imme­diate vicinity of a thermal spa in nor­thern Por­tugal or a fairytale chateau in south-west France, amidst classic German stately homes or in a former shepherd’s cottage in a UNESCO World Heritage Site, or in a tree house four metres above the ground. It’s hard to choose, but don’t take too long to decide or the places will all be snapped up …
