The small boutique hotel Mezi Plutky in the Czech Carpathian Mountains effortlessly blends apparent contradictions. Old and new, darkness and light, privacy and community come together to create a haven of peace and tranquility. The 200-year-old country house with its traditional shingled roof and typical small windows is surprisingly bright inside: white walls, a sandstone floor and new glass doors draw an abundance of light into its once darkened rooms. The old-fashioned ceiling beams, open beam-structure beneath the mighty roof, and furnishings made from natural materials combine to create a cosy, homely atmosphere.
In addition to the spacious bedrooms of the four suites, there are several common areas: a kitchen with an honesty bar, a dining room, living room with a fireplace, and a library. So you will always find a quiet retreat or a place to socialize, whether it is in the house, in the barns – which are used as a winter garden and summer lounge – or in the large garden complete with its own herb garden, natural pool and terrace.
What to do
Hiking, cycling & mountain biking, Nordic walking, paragliding, spa and wellness treatments (1km), a 36 hole golf course (1km), horseback riding, skiing, ski tours, snowshoeing, and cooking lessons.
Why we like this house
Staying at Mezi Plutky feels like visiting old friends at their stylish country estate.
This house is great for
Couples and families with older children (over 12 years). The house can also be rented as a whole (for example for wedding parties).
Owner
Daniela Hradilová is a Czech designer who lives with her family in the Beskydy mountains. Her independent worldview and style, her relationship to history and local traditions, and her passion for design all inspire her to create sensitive conversions of old buildings into beautiful holiday homes, from large hotels up to smaller, boutique establishments. She has also conceived the interior designs for several restaurants and individual apartments. Mezi Plutky ("between fences") is her latest available holiday house, which will be complemented by the nearby Mezi Lukami ("between meadows").
