Mineral Lodge

Contemporary architecture in an age-old mountain village. Situated in the French part of Savoy, the Mineral Lodge B&B is surrounded by peaks reaching up to 1200 metres. The building itself is an exciting architectural composition that playfully combines old and new, lightness and substance, openness and privacy. Constructed within the ruins of an old farmstead, the historic outer walls have been preserved and are visually integrated into the new building through glass walls. The new building also makes use of natural stone in combination with timber, glass and steel. It reinterprets the traditional architecture of Alpine chalets in a contemporary light – the box protruding from the timber façade, for example, is based on the overhanging attics of regional farmhouses.

The different levels of the house are connected by several staircases and open spaces. The kitchen on the ground floor opens all the way up to the roof and the panorama lounge on the first floor offers exciting vistas. The Mineral Lodge has two dining rooms and two lounges. There are four bedrooms and a suite – several feature large terraces overlooking the impressive Alpine panorama.
