The South Tyrolean Ottmanngut has a long history: it was once a farm, later a tavern and then a guest house. Extensively renovated, the idyllic house is not just a Bed & Breakfast now but a Suite & Breakfast, as the eleven rooms are something special. They seem to have been forgotten in time with their antique furniture in Biedermeier or Art Nouveau, stucco ceilings and old wood and terrazzo floors. The furniture and ornaments throughout the house are mainly from the family’s own collection, with each piece telling a chapter of the family’s history and that of the building. Breakfast is served in the dining room, the orangery, or in the Mediterranean garden with palms and cypress trees. The house is located on a vineyard but is still only five minutes away from downtown Merano.
