Fiskavaig Studio on the Scottish Isle of Skye is the little sister of the neighboring Hen House holiday home. Both houses were designed by Rural Design Architects and are examples of ecological constructions built using simple materials. Its mono pitched roof resembles that of the Hen House but its corrugated Eternit cladding accords Fiskavaig its own unique personality. The studio was designed as a self-build home and was constructed by the owners themselves. The cottage for 2 people is set in a dip in the landscape overlooking Loch Bracadale and the surrounding hills. The living room and the bedroom are located at each end of the 30 m² studio, the kitchen and bathroom in between. And the fireplace provides warmth and comfort when it’s cold and stormy outside.
What to do
Hiking, climbing, fishing, and bird and nature watching: Golden Eagles, Sea Eagles, whales, otters.
Why we like this house
A cool Eco-Hideaway built of simple materials.
