The Boomerang House

Modern architecture in an olive grove: The Boomerang House is a B&B with only two guest suites, situated in a secluded olive grove near the village of Sivas in southern Crete. The house has been built to blend in with its surroundings in the best possible way. The boomerang-like shape and the materials concrete, glass and wood characterise the building, which almost disappears into the hillside. The bright red railing in the pool area adds a colourful highlight. The house consists of two parts: one wing accommodates the guest rooms, the other one the kitchen and the flat of the operators. The pergola, under which breakfast is served in the morning, is located between the buildings, connected by a concrete roof.

The two guest suites, each 35 square metres in size, open up towards the valley with floor-to-ceiling glazing and afford views of the surrounding mountains and the sea. Two private terraces, which can be closed off with louvre doors, are situated in front of the rooms and thus extend the living space of the guest rooms. Concrete and glass lend the rooms a cool ambience, jungle motifs and boho-style furniture, lamps and accessories add a casual touch. The bathrooms are designed so that guests can have a shower with a view of the sea: The glazing reaching down to the floor forms the back wall of the shower. When swimming in the stylish pool or sitting on the sundeck, guests can also enjoy beautiful views of the surroundings.
