The Woodhouse in the fishing village of Agger on the northwestern coast of Jutland is located less than a kilometre from the North Sea, on a property with mature trees and plenty of natural vegetation. This surrounding woods played a significant role in the design of the house. In fact, its large window fronts almost invite the trees inside. You can look right through the house: along its entire length and through the gable-high panoramic windows arranged on both sides of the living area. Architect Søren Sarup describes its ambience as a light, almost floating feeling – as if you were a bird flying through the forest.

The Woodhouse consists of a main house, an outbuilding, and a terrace that connects the two buildings. The main house features an open living area with a fireplace, kitchen and dining area that opens out to nature on two sides through windows that extend up to the gables. On the eastern side of the main building you will find a bathroom as well as the master bedroom complete with its own almost five-metre high window front and views out into the surrounding woodlands. The covered terrace leads from the living area to the west-facing outbuilding. Here there is another bathroom and two bedrooms with double beds. One of the bedrooms features a loft with two additional beds for children.

What to do

Long walks along the North Sea, hiking in the Thy National Park, mountain bike tours, cycling, horse riding, kite and windsurfing, standup paddling, kayaking, fishing in the North Sea and the fjord, eating out at the local fish restaurants, wellness, day trips to Skagen (the northern tip of Denmark) and Aarhus (European Capital of Culture 2017).

Why we like this house

Exciting architecture and interiors in a simple, beautiful Scandinavian design. The house has a spacious, airy ambience thanks to its wide visual axes – you can see straight through the house to all sides.

This house is great for

Holidays with family and friends. Also great for couples. The area is a paradise for surfers and nature lovers.
