On the edge of the Klützer Winkel, not far from the Baltic Sea, sits Feldgang, a three-sided farm built in 1870. It offers both, silent retreat and community, and deeply committed to the conscious use of resources, from its architecture to self-sufficiency.
For this purpose, the main house and the cowshed made of yellow-reddish glowing clinker brick were – after a thorough analysis of the basic substance – carefully renovated with brick, clay bricks, a wooden beacon ceiling as well as a straw-loam compound and adapted to modern use.
The room division, which was found almost intact, was merely refinished and all the walls were given a new coat of clay plaster. Only the collapsed storage barn could not be preserved in its original state and was rebuilt as a guest house. To create more space on the upper floor, a cuboid breaks through the building’s cubature and the gable roof.
The result is a structure with spacious rooms and variable use. Four apartments as well as seven single and double rooms offer space for different guest constellations. All living spaces offer views of the terminal moraine landscape. The furnishings are purist and cosy at the same time and place great emphasis on natural materials wherever possible. A credo that extends to the farm’s own pantry, where guests can find the finest organic products for culinary processing – whether in their own flat kitchens or the large communal kitchen. The farm is cultivated organically, from vegetable growing and livestock farming to biodynamic wine.

Walking, hiking and cycling in the undulating terminal moraine landscape, swimming in the sea (the nearest Baltic Sea bay is the Wohlenberger Wieck at 12 km) or in the surrounding lakes (the Tressower See is only 4 km away), day trips to Lübeck, Wismar or Schwerin, inspiring visits to the Bothmer Castle, Plüschow Castle or the Basislager Gallery, cooking in nature with open fires and yurts as well as wine tasting of biodynamic terroir wines.
