yök Casa + Cultura is an environmentally friendly tourism project in Barcelona which offers travelers a home away from home. Three apartments on the third floor of a residential building dating from the 19th century have been renovated according to ecologically sustainable design principles. The original structure of the building – in the style of Catalan modernism, complete with 3.5 m high ceilings, patterned tile floors and antique wooden window frames – offers a stylish setting for an unconventional mix of vintage furniture and local eco-design. Where possible, recycled materials have been used: the kitchens were built from old wooden pallets and the bathrooms feature second hand mirrors and sinks. The hosts, a product designer and a hotel manager, have their office on the eighth floor of the building. There is also a roof terrace with views across the the city, all the way to the Sagrada Familia. The terrace is the venue for various cultural events and can be booked by guests upon request.
What to do
The hosts organise frequent cultural activities such as guided tours and events on the topics design, Barcelona and sustainability. Yök is situated on the border between the Old Town (Ciutat Vella/ El Born) and the Eixample Dreta district which is within 10 minutes' walk from Plaça Catalunya. The hosts can recommend many local museums, galleries, barsand restaurants.

What an amazing place to stay! The apartment is beautiful and stunningly restored, the hosts are super kind and helpful. They made our stay to a very special one with their numerous tipps for museums, restaurants, etc. We booked a walking-tour with Sandro (barcelonaplanit) and can‘t recommend it enough — even our teenage boys liked the tour a lot. There are plenty of restaurants and local amenities just around the corner and almost all the top sightseeing places are within walking distance.
A beautiful apartment in a wonderful part of town. The apartment is spacious and lovingly furnished. We felt like we were living here, also we were allowed to use the wonderful roof terrace.

Eine ganz besondere Unterkunft in Barcelona. Mein Mann und ich haben eine Woche dort verbracht und waren begeistert von der Architektur der Wohnung und von der tollen Terrasse, die einen unglaublichen Blick auf Barcelona bot. Mari und das Yök Team waren immer sehr hilfsbereit und super freundlich. Ich würde jeden, der eine Unterkunft in Barcelona sucht, diese Wohnung empfehlen.
Ich würde allen die ein paar Tage in Barcelona verbringen wollen, empfehlen in diesen tollen Wohnungen zu wohnen. Mein Partner und ich wohnten für ein paar Tage in einer dieser Wohnungen und abgesehen davon, dass die Wohnungen die ursprüngliche Architektur und das Design des katalanischen Designers beibehalten haben, wurden wir sowohl von Maria als auch vom Yök-Team jederzeit sehr freundlich behandelt. Sie gaben uns sogar Tipps, wo wir essen gehen oder einen guten Wein genießen konnten und empfahlen uns, was wir in der Stadt besuchen sollten. Wir werden auf jeden Fall im Yök übernachten, wenn wir wieder nach Barcelona kommen.
What a special place! Beautiful appartment, spectacular view, central location and a very friendly and helpful host.
This is a stunning apartment. We (four women on concert tour) stayed here and enjoyed every second at yök Casa. We had a wonderful warm welcome at the roof top (where you also take breakfast) with an incredible view across the city.
The location is right in the middle of the city with walking distance to all the places you want and should visit. Still it is quite enough to get a proper rest at night.
I’d highly recommend you’re staying here, too.
