In the past, when I didn’t want to spend Christmas in cold Central Europe (which did happen!), I was usually drawn to an island in the south of Europe. While I would otherwise have been scowling as I rushed through the slush-filled streets in (semi-)darkness in search of Christmas presents, I sometimes preferred to enjoy the lightness and light of the south in swimming trunks and hiking trunks – far away from the Christmas tree and Christmas fuss, not to mention the German end-of-year stress.
Over the years, Madeira, the Canary Islands, Majorca, Sicily, Crete and the Aegean have proved to be suitable destinations for me. And the best thing is, if you get the “Christmas party blues”, there’s no shortage of suitable accommodation – we have accommodation everywhere.
