The holiday homes “Alte Gärtnerei” and “Kleine Schäferei” are located just a few minutes walk away from Born, the picturesque resort and harbour on the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula. The forests and the wonderful west beach in the “Western Pomerania Lagoon Area National Park” can be reached by bike through the surrounding meadows between the Baltic Sea and the Bodden.
“Alte Gärtnerei” – a lovingly renovated house from 1828 – follows the typical local floor plan and has an asymmetrical facade. Ceilings and interior walls made of mud and wood ensure a comfortable room climate. The living and dining area, which includes a wood burning stove, has large French windows that open onto the garden. Two bedrooms on the top floor can accommodate two to four people (a sofa bed downstairs offers additional bedding).
“Kleine Schäferei” is a renovated small stable building with a vernacular type of visible stonework. The building from the turn of the century was extended with an annex, in which you will find the sleeping area and shower. The stable doors lead out into the open sleeping area, the interior wall of which was once the stable’s outer wall. In the living, dining and cooking area, the door openings have been glazed, the old wooden doors serving as window shutters. The wood-burning stove makes for a particularly cozy atmosphere. The house can accommodate two people.

Owner
The architect couple Barbara Rieke-Güntsche and Peter Güntsche discovered the Alte Gärtnerei Born in 2013 and renovated it for themselves and their family. As they transformed it into a modern holiday home, they found many traces of its two-century-old history, which they refurbished, preserved and combined with contemporary design and individual furnishings.
