Lake Orta is considered the most romantic of northern Italy’s sub-Alpine lakes. On its eastern shore – just above the town of Orta – la Darbia is set into an idyllic hillside. Originally an ancient rural settlement, the hamlet has been completely refurbished with local materials, including old stones and wood. The architecture displays typical elements of traditional Italian country houses. The resort’s centerpiece is a little stone tower which lent the settlement its name. The individually designed apartments (with two or three rooms) are spread over several buildings. Ground floor apartments have a private garden and those on the first floor feature a terrace. They have interiors characterised by a sleek, understated elegance in muted shade and offer beautiful views of the lake, the island of San Giulio and Monte Rosa. You can also enjoy scenic views from the (heated) infinity pool as well as from the restaurant and its terrace. In the evening, the LA CUCINA serves traditional Italian dishes cooked with ingredients from La Darbia’s own vegetable garden. The complex includes a vineyard and a wine cellar.
