Les Rochers is situated in a quiet and secluded location between green fields in the Bocage Normand, a hedge landscape typical of Normandy. The 16th century farm comprises the main house, a chapel and several barns grouped around a central courtyard. The imposing estate has been renovated and converted over a period of ten years. Three spacious guest rooms and a suite have been created in the agricultural buildings; the old chapel has been converted into a flat. The façades facing the courtyard were left in their original state. On the garden side, purposefully positioned openings and skylights allow plenty of light to enter the interior and offer views of the countryside.
The spacious accommodations reflect the monumentality of the buildings. They are characterised by the contrast between the almost sculptural-looking historical stone walls and the plain materials used for the interior fitout. The furnishings are composed of furniture and memorabilia collected over several generations from the Deco period to the 1970s. These are complemented by some functional objects designed and built on site. The unique character of the rooms is also enhanced by works of art from the family’s own collection and from contemporary Norman artists.
Each accommodation has its own entrance and a fireplace or wood stove. Some extend over two levels and have a terrace or balcony. The showpiece is the 110-square metre suite with private access to the snooker room. The communicative centre of the estate is the Auberge: a dining and lounge room for all guests in the former barn. With its cosy ambience and the view of the fields (and sometimes of deer) it invites guests to linger. When the weather is fine, the large garden and the inner courtyard with various seating areas are a tempting place to sit outside.

What to do
Les Rochers is situated by an idyllic hiking trail that leads past paddocks and through woodland sections to the village of Cerisy la Forêt, famous for its 11th century abbey. The estate is an ideal location for discovering the whole of Normandy: the medieval town of Bayeux and the Atlantic coast are nearby (the beaches are about 30 minutes away). Mont Saint Michel, the port city of Cherbourg and the rugged Cap de la Hague, Honfleur and the chalk cliff of Etretat are easy to reach on day trips.
Hiking, bicycle tours, playing golf, horse riding, sailing, water sports, fishing.
