Are you dreaming of a holiday that brings the whole family – or all your closest friends – together? In the south of France perhaps? An accommodation with traditional charm and casual flair? In the countryside, but close to the sea and the mountains. Voilà: Loft by LIEU.
This holiday home for up to 12 guests is situated on an old farm property near the Mediterranean coast and the Pyrenees, about 10 kilometres from the town of Narbonne. Its Dutch owners have transformed one of the large outbuildings into a spacious, casual holiday home. The gates of this former wine warehouse have been replaced by large arched windows. These fill its hall-like space with light and offer wide views over the rooftops of the village of Villedaigne. Rustic walls, a polished concrete floor, and old timber beams provide the setting for an eclectic mix of vintage furniture, modern design and colourful works of art – sometimes nostalgic and sophisticated, sometimes in a sober, industrial style.
With its 300 square metres of living space, the Loft by Lieu offers plenty of space. The large kitchen with a cooking island and bar, the 4-metre-long dining table, cosy seating areas and a billiard table combine to create the communal centre of the Loft. Four bedrooms on the ground floor and two under the roof, as well as an infrared sauna, offer spaces to retreat to and relax. You will also find two terraces and a heated pool with a sunbathing area.
What to do
The Loft is situated near the seaside as well as many beautiful towns (Narbonne, Toulouse, Montpellier, Perpignan, Béziers und Carcassonne) and villages. The Canal du Midi is also within easy reach. There is a wealth of activities on offer: e.g. swimming in the river, (kite) surfing, hiking, cycling, golf, skydiving, canoeing, canyoning, parachuting, horse riding, scuba diving. Massages and babysitting can be also arranged.
Why we like this house
Holiday accommodation that radiates esprit and nonchalance: perfect for easy-going holidays in the south of France.
This house is great for
Holidays with the extended family, with several families, with friends, company outings, small group trips.
The Dutch couple Mickey and Roger moved with their two daughters to the south of France in 2007, where they opened a Bed & Breakfast in the small village of Villedaigne. At this place they also found the old wine barn, which they converted into a holiday home for 12 people. Completly private, with a swimming pool, sauna and lots of luxury. The conversion and decoration of the loft was the icing on the cake for Mickey and Roger.
