 TV-Tipp: Die 1‑Euro-Villa in /

TV Tip: The 1‑Euro Villa

This is an article from our archive. It was published in February 2022, so some details may no longer be up to date.

In its series “Room Tour”, German television station SWR presents an artist couple who in 2005 bought the dilapidated residence of the former director of the Sayner Hütte iron foundry (Rhineland-Palatinate) and have since been gradually renovating the listed building. At the time, the run-down villa cost them exactly one euro, and the property was acquired for a further 30,000 euros.

You can see what has become of the villa here: SWR Room Tour, January 2022 (German version)

The Sayner Hütte itself is now run by a foundation dedicated to the preservation of the monument ensemble.
