Just as the Eiffel Tower is considered the symbol of Paris, lavender is undoubtedly the symbol of Provence. In spring, though, the landscape doesn’t bear the flower’s signature shade of purple – it’s a warm golden yellow. Rapeseed blooms while ancient villages and picturesque towns are still wrapped in peace and quietude. This all changes a few weeks later. Tourists flock to the region in the summer, the time when Provence unveils itself as we all know it from the postcards. From mid-June to mid-August, depending on the region and the weather, the fields look as if violet cloths have been stretched over them and the air is filled with the flower’s familiar scent. Whether you want to experience Provence in the quiet spring or the lavender blossom season in summer: seen from the following holiday houses the region is beautiful in every season!
