The northern Italian city of Mantua, Lombardy, is surrounded by lakes on three sides. Many old noble palaces adorn this Renaissance city, the historical centre of which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Massimo Ghisi and Vanna Bernardelli have rebuilt one of these palaces, Palazzo Beccaguti Cavriani, dating to the 16th century, and have created spaces that combine architecture, design and art.
The original structure of the palace has been restored and supplemented with modern elements. The bricked arches facing the courtyard have been opened and filled with windows in steel frames; old frescoes, stuccoes and vaults have also been restored. At the same time, the historical building has been adapted for modern usage. In addition to the architectural studio Disegno, the Palazzo houses a gallery with the couple’s collection of contemporary art and their apartment in the main building, which opens onto a lush, green garden with a pool.
There are three units that can be rented: The GALLERY SUITE for two people furnished with works of contemporary art, the FRESCO SUITE for two people with frescoes from the sixteenth century or the entire property which includes Gallery Suite, Fresco Suite and Main House (with living room, dining room, kitchen, three bedrooms and two bathrooms) as well as the courtyard, the art gallery and the garden with swimming pool.
The spaces will captivate you with their combination of historical substance, modern design and contemporary art.

What to do
Visiting the historical monuments of Mantua, a three lakes tour, annual literature festival Festivaletteratura in September, visiting the cities Sabbioneta and San Benedetto, Sigurtà Park, the villages Borghetto sul Mincio and Castellaro Lagusello, Lake Garda, Thermal Park Colà, Verona. There are many excellent restaurants in the region surrounding Mantova.

Hinter einer schlichten Straßenfront verbirgt sich ein phantastisches Anwesen. Der Palazzo wurde stilvoll renoviert, in minimalistischem Design mit hochwertiger Kunst und ausgefallenen Möbeln eingerichtet. Der freundliche Besitzer zeigte uns einige interessante Räume und besondere Kunstobjekte. Wir waren begeistert. Wir wohnten in der modern und perfekt ausgestatteten Gallery Suite. Ein tolles Gefühl, umgeben von Kunst zu schlafen. Für Kunstliebhaber ein Traum.
Der Palazzo liegt zentral im wunderschönen historischen Mantua mit vielen Sehenswürdigkeiten. Unzählige Restaurants bieten bestes Gourmetessen an.

Siamo stati in Mantova in due occasione.. in bici, trascorendo la città, avevamo scoperto il palazzo, c’era un giorno tipo ‘porta aperto’
mi ricordo bene le scale a l’ingresso, il cortile.… facevo male al cuore di vedere un imobile cosi belle in rovina. il giardino dal altro lato della strada.
