The Pförtner Pent­house between Schliersee and Tegernsee is a fusion of indus­trial and alpine design with uncon­ven­tional charm, which may be due to the origin of the house. For this purist modern holiday acco­mo­dation in Hausham, Upper Bavaria, in fact dates back to 1869 and was once the gateway to the mines in the region. During the core reno­vation in 2021, an archi­tec­tu­rally straight­forward pent­house extension was added to the former gate­house, which today with its four holiday apart­ments gua­rantees deep rela­xation and a sweeping view of the Schliersee moun­tains.

This idio­syn­cratic and suc­cessful com­bi­nation not only offers further options, but also gives the his­toric, indus­trial-looking building a new flair. The interior also reflects the sty­listic tension between sim­plicity and warmth, bru­talism and cosiness. Clear lines and open con­s­truction meet natural mate­rials and homely access­ories.

The structure made of regional spruce wood pro­vides for a special indoor climate, the heated exposed screed for cosy coolness and the generous layout of the apart­ments for an airy ambience. Each of the pent­houses has an indi­vidual name, is sui­table for two to four people and opens on to the sur­rounding wooden terrace where you can enjoy the pan­orama. For example, you can watch shooting stars in the “Starry Nights”, trace Bavarian craft­smanship and its cross-gene­ra­tional flow of know­ledge in the “Caskade” dive into your own per­sonal adventure in the “Wild Within” or in the “Mirabell” which stands for harmony with nature. This runs like a common theme through all the holiday apart­ments, as most of the fur­niture was made directly in Hausham, including the four-poster bed made of Swiss stone pine, the oak dining table or the kitchen block made of Black MDF (medium density fib­re­board) to the steel ele­ments in the kitchen and bathroom. All tex­tiles have also been sourced from local sup­pliers, while chairs and arm­chairs are made from recycled plastic. Whe­rever pos­sible, the Pförtner Pent­house comes full circle – from fur­nis­hings to history. An ideal place to rege­nerate.

Situated between two picturesque lakes – the Schliersee and the Tegernsee – every season here reveals its own charms: hiking on the Brecherspitz, skiing and sledging at Spitzingsee, Sutten, Sudelfeld or Wendelstein, night tobogganing on the Obere Firstalm toboggan run, cross-country skiing on Hausham's trails, swimming in and sailing on the lakes, cycling, mountain biking or e-biking, wellness in the Monte Mare lakeside sauna, golfing at the Tegernsee, Bad Wiessee, Valley or Margarethenhof golf clubs, excursions to the Slyrs Neuhaus distillery, the Markus Wasmeier open-air museum or Gmund Büttenpapier [Gmund handmade paper factory], visiting forest festivals in summer or Christmas markets in winter or co-working in the Office Manufaktur on the 1st floor of the Pförtner house.
