The sky over Tarifa: The Artist Tarifa, a listed building, is as cos­mo­po­litan as the city itself. A haven of tran­quillity amidst the white­washed, lively streets of the old town, its roof terrace offers views stret­ching all the way to the moun­tains of Morocco.
Lined by kilo­metres of sandy beaches, Tarifa is nestled between two nature parks and the worlds of two con­ti­nents — a paradise for wind­surfers and kitesurfers and the stage of history.

The Artist Tarifa — once the birth­place and home of the painter Agustin Segura Iglesias — is one of the city’s cul­tural tre­asures. In 2022, the two-storey building was res­tored, including the ori­ginal façade, where the old guard with marble helmet is still enthroned on the corner.

The five sleek double bed­rooms, fur­nished with wood and wicker fur­niture, and the five cor­re­sponding bath­rooms are spread over both floors. In between, a spa­cious glazed patio opens up in the centre of the house, rea­ching up to the roof.

From the centre of the house, a staircase leads to the first floor, which con­tinues to the roof terrace. Up here, not only is the view of the white city spec­ta­cular, on top there is also a plunge pool with salt water.

What to do

Wind and kite surfing at Playa Chica (near the city centre) or the beaches Playa de los Lances, Los Porros, Valdevaqueros, Playa de los Alemanes and Atlanterra, which are also within easy reach, kilometres of walks by the sea, Hiking in the nature parks Los Alcornocales (a mountain area with a huge cork oak forest) or in the species-rich Parque Natural del Estrecho, walking in the footsteps of history - from prehistoric relics to the turbulent Middle Ages and of course enjoying culinary highlights in the numerous restaurants, chiringuitos and tapas bars.
