Situated on a sunny hillside above the tranquil South Tyrolean town of Merano, the modernist Villa Alvarium offers sweeping panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The landscape here is characterised by a charming mixture of rugged mountains, tranquil vineyards and Mediterranean flair.
Located on the garden level, the flat can accommodate up to six people and consists of two bedrooms, each with a large bathroom. There is an additional sleeping option on a sofa bed in the living area, which can be separated by a screen. The open-plan, modern room with kitchen island and lounge area is connected to the south and west-facing terrace by large glass fronts. Another flat above offers space for four people – the two bedrooms are spread over the two levels. Both the fully glazed living area and the roof terrace in front offer views far beyond Merano. Both flats are modern and furnished with individual design classics. The exposed concrete ceilings and walnut parquet flooring create a loft-like atmosphere, while ochre-coloured window and wall recesses, colourful textiles and modern works of art provide individual colour accents.
The partially covered sun terraces can be used almost all year round – the climate is wonderfully mild except for a few months of the year. Surrounded by the diverse nature of South Tyrol, the villa offers a charming blend of simplicity and warmth, for those who love hiking and those seeking peace and quiet.
What to do
South Tyrol offers a wealth of excursion options at any time of year: Merano and Bolzano invite you to take a stroll through the city, you can go on wonderful hikes in the surrounding mountain landscape, the most beautiful botanical garden in Italy is not far away, there are several golf courses nearby, the Merano thermal baths provide relaxing hours and in autumn the wine festival and ‘Törggelen’ with South Tyrolean specialities attract visitors.

Die Wohnung besticht durch den tollen Blick durch die riesige Fensterfront über Weinberge in die weite Südtiroler Landschaft! Die Kücheneinrichtung bzw. -ausstattung ist sehr gut. Ansonsten ist die Wohnung eher funktional eingerichtet. Die Bäder sind ohne Fenster und sehr eng. "Sonnenanbeter" werden die beiden großen Terrassen genießen. Wir fanden es sehr bequem, dass die Anfahrt zu vielen Touristenziele sehr kurz ist; zum Trauttmansdorff Garten, in die Innenstadt von Meran, zur Gondel nach Meran 2000 usw.
Wir haben einen wunderbaren Urlaub in der Wohnung der Villa Alvarium verbracht. Die ganze Ausstattung ist auf Luxusniveau: von Küchengeräten über Möbel und Geschirr bis Matratzen. Der Blick ist umwerfend, die Lage ideal und zentral. Jos ist ein wunderbarer Gastgeber, der seinen Gästen jeden Wunsch erfüllt. Man ist völlig privat und es ist nicht ein Laut aus der darunter – oder darüber liegenden Ferienwohnung zu hören. Urlaubsentspannung pur. Wir kommen nächstes Jahr wieder!
Die perfekte Kombination zwischen einer tollen Wohnung in einer aussichtsreichen Lage, super Ausstattung (es ist einfach an alles gedacht) und einem – so noch nie erlebten – perfekten Gastgeber. Vielen Dank, Jos!
