At Ansitz Hohenegg you can leave everyday life behind you. This former farmstead on a mountain ridge in the Allgäu is surrounded by high spruces on a sunny clearing and promises pure relaxation, thanks simply its solitary location amidst nature. You reach the property on a path that leads uphill through the forest. In snowy winters, the car stays in the valley and you walk the last part (the luggage is transported for you).
The renovated and rebuilt farmstead houses four holiday apartments, which are characterized by spacious rooms, a harmonious balance of historical and modern elements and natural materials such as wood from the region, loden, leather and stone. Details with an alpine character such as antlers on the wall, chequered bed linen or traditional corner benches and chairs provide a local flavour without appearing kitschy.
The shingle house dating to approx. 1740 – the oldest part of the farmhouse – offers space for 8 people across almost 300m2. Especially the kitchen with its low ceiling and the original preserved knitted wooden wall boasts a lot of historical flair. In contrast, the living room on the first floor is characterised by its high, exposed roof truss, a large window front and an open fireplace. The shingle house has its own garden.
The three other apartments are located in the shed: The Stube Heuboden and the Stube Waldblick offer space for 5 and 6 people respectively and have a terrace or a spacious loggia. The Stube Wipfelglück in the converted roof truss is a loft-style retreat for two. The views over the clearing towards Lake Constance can even be enjoyed from the bathtub.
Between the Schindelhaus and the remise there is a small wellness area with a sauna and rest area, which is available to all guests.

What to do
Relax, sauna, experience and discover nature (beautiful landscape around the residence, e.g. the "Eistobel", a gorge from the ice age). In summer: hiking, cycling, art & culture in the historic towns of the surrounding area (Bregenzerwald / Lake Constance). In winter: winter hiking, snowshoe hiking, cross-country skiing, alpine skiing (ski in and ski out from the house to the Iberg lifts, a small, relaxed family ski area).
Why we like this house
Perfect for a break in the mountains: comfortable and cosy apartments surrounded by idyllic nature. Also great for families, as children have plenty of free space and space to play
This house is great for
Depending on the apartment chosen, suitable for a romantic break for two or a family holiday. The property can also be rented as a whole and is then perfect for extended families or holidays with friends.
