The holiday homes Casacosta and Casacosta Nextdoor are situated far from the tourist hotspots of Tenerife in the village of El Poris on the island’s southeast coast. Casacosta is a modernist villa from the late 1970s. Its Antwerp-based owners Susan Theunissen and Leo Coolen have refurbished the building and turned it into an elegant holiday home for their family – and they have opened it up to visitors, too. The materials and colours were chosen in keeping with the villa’s 70s flair. The interior design, which includes vintage furniture pieces and several works of art, is just as unique as the architecture. The spacious villa consists of several geometric units, interlocking and arranged on several levels around an L-shaped entrance hall. The circular pool on the terrace serves as a counterpoint to the cubic architecture. And its location – placed squarely on the cliffs – offers spectacular views of the ocean and coast.
The smaller, 120 sqm outbuilding Casacosta Nextdoor has a similar ambience to the Casacosta. Built in the rocks, the house is located one level lower, down at the back of the main building, ensuring maximum privacy. The large sun terrace with a five-meter-long dining table offers wonderful ocean views.
What to do
There is a natural pool with sea water right next to the house. Diving, wind and kitesurfing, cycling, hiking, whale and dolphin watching, El Teide National Park, visits to the cities of Santa Cruz and La Laguna, Audititorio de Tenerife (Santiago Calatrava), the TEA Museum and Plaza Espana (Herzog & de Meuron), art projects by Fernando Menis (Magma Arte & Congresos).
Why we like this house
Thrilling architecture and a cool-casual 70s spirit in a great location right by the ocean: these two houses do not disappoint.
This house is great for
Holidays with families and friends
