Apartment Colle ai Lecci in Toskana, Castelnuovo Berardegna / IT – Italy

Apartment Colle ai Lecci

Small villages, castles and country estates adorn the rolling hills of the Chianti Classico, surrounded by towering cypresses, olive groves and vineyards. Colle ai Lecci, not far from Castelnuovo Berardenga, is part of this timeless backdrop.

The former wine estate with views of Siena looks back on 800 years of history. A clear vision and careful architectural transformation have shaped a creative place that focuses on a new hospitality concept of living and working together. Three old Italian farmhouses made of natural stone have been revitalised as a ‘borgo’, a small hamlet with private apartments and common spaces set amidst organic gardens and olive groves. Colle ai Lecci offers an ambitious programme of workshops on topics such as design, creation and architecture — ‘creative retreats for curious travellers’ is the motto of these events.

The authentic character of the ensemble sets the stage for this philosophy, where past and present meet. Purist design, light natural tones and soft, warm textures form a pleasant contrast to the exposed stone walls, old wooden ceilings, masonry arches, old stone floors and antique furniture.

The three holiday apartments for two people each feature a bedroom with a double bed, a living room with a kitchenette, a bathroom and either a private terrace or a private garden where guests can enjoy breakfast surrounded by Mediterranean plants. Guests also have access to numerous shared areas, such as the open-plan kitchen with a large cooking island and bar, a library, various ateliers, a workshop and the olive oil production area. Around the house, a refreshing pool, a large terrace for communal gatherings and activities, idyllic retreats in the olive grove and an organic herb and vegetable garden invite you to enjoy, revitalise and be creative.

What to do

Hiking and cycling in the hills of Chianti and the Crete Senesi, cultural excursions to Siena and Florence and the surrounding villages, wine tasting and culinary delights (the Villa Sesta winery is right in the neighbourhood), relaxing by the pool or in the hot springs of Rapolano Terme, a highlight for vintage bike fans: L'Eroica, helping with the olive harvest or in the herb and vegetable garden and, of course, taking part in the wide range of courses and events - from yoga retreats to workshops on clay modelling, ceramics, photography, drawing, floral art or cooking with nature to concerts

Why we like this house
