Eremo

Holiday home Eremo is perched on a hill above the northern Italian harbour town of Imperia, on the so-called “Riviera”. Situated, as though on a viewing platform, on the edge of a centuries-old pine forest, the house offers an impressive panoramic view over the city and the Ligurian Sea. The historic Hermitage – once a religious retreat – has been transformed into a holiday home for two.

During the restoration, great importance was attached to authenticity: the walls were rebuilt with the existing stones, the roof was covered with the typical Ligurian slate. A modern cubic annex extends the building. With its smooth plastered walls, it contrasts with the natural stone walls of the old hermitage, but is discreetly in the background and does not distract from the historic building. In the old building you find the kitchen with dining table and under the roof there is a wardrobe area with two pouff-beds.  A bedroom and a bathroom with shower are in the annex. The former exterior wall of the Hermitage is now one of the bedroom walls and gives this room, which is otherwise very simple, lots of atmosphere. Through a large sliding window you have a view of the terrace, the garden with pool and the coast.

Walks, hiking in the surrounding mountains, mountain biking, Nordic Walking, bird watching, swimming in the sea, windsurfing, whale watching tours, cycling on the 24 km long cycle path along the Riviera dei Fiori, visiting the small, authentic villages in the hinterland, restaurants (from small taverns to star restaurants), excursion to the Cinque Terre, to the beautiful botanical gardens and villas of the region, a trip to the French seaside villages.
