Insights and outlooks (2): The Hotel Hinteregger and the importance of being a host.

Katharina Hradecky lives with her husband and kids in the family-run Hotel Hinteregger in Matrei (AT-East Tyrol). During this time, while the house is still quiet and empty, waiting for the first guests of this season, she explains why something very important is missing in her life at the moment.

“We consider ourselves very lucky to live in such a spacious house, or rather hotel, designed according to our ideas.
We have breakfast in the light-flooded winter garden, have the privilege of cooking in the hotel kitchen with quality products from our own farm, seasoned with herbs from our own herb garden. We enjoy serving ourselves in the wine cellar.
We appreciate the spaciousness, the many small details that we have chosen ourselves and especially the garden – the green oasis around the hotel – and the natural pool, which my husband takes perfect care of.
And yet there is something I miss very much: the people, the guests, the staff, the friends of the hotel, who bring it to life. Guests who bring a bit of the wide world into our hotel. Guests who enrich my life with stories. Guests who inspire me again and again. Guests who become friends. I am a host with heart and soul and being a host is an essential part of my quality of life. Therefore, I am very happy to be able to welcome guests in our house again soon.”
