The mountain village Martisberg in the Swiss Valais only has a few houses and 19 inhabitants. The Josihaus is one of the buildings nestled at 1367 meters altitude on the sunny southern slope. It was built in the 1950s by Josi Müller himself with the help of his friends from the village. The wood comes from trees in the area that he cut down and sawed himself. The stones for the foundation granite were taken from the nearby quarry and trimmed by hand. Even the large soapstone stove that heats the house together with the stove on the upper floor is self-built.
In 2013 the house was modernised while retaining its character and soul. Now vacationers can experience pure mountain idyll in this rustic ambiance. The house offers space for up to six people in the main apartment and for two people in a studio with separate entrance (the studio is only rented together with the main apartment). The apartment has a living room with work area and balcony, kitchen and bathroom on the first floor and two double bedrooms and another chamber with two single beds on the floor above. The studio (with separate entrance) has one bedroom, a mini-kitchen and a bathroom. In contrast to the main flat with its mix of old and new, the studio is modern and straightforward in design.

What a spectacular place to spend your vacation! Very tasteful and cosy. A nice mix of old and new. We loved the wood in all kinds of different shades. And miss the cowbells while sitting in the sun on one of the balconies facing a perfect Suisse scenery. Two thumbs up!!!!
