Against common aesthetic conventions

Andreas Fuhrimann Gabrielle Hächler Architekten from Zurich (CH) won 1st prize in this year’s “Houses of the Year — the best single-family houses” competition for the project “Der Stadtbaustein”.

“Pure and provocative, self-confident, unconventional and comfortable” was the verdict of the high-ranking jury of experts on the unusual building in Zurich’s Wipkingen district.

Spiegel online ran the headline “Züricher Trutzburg (mit Baustellencharakter)” (Zurich fortress with construction site character) and is currently asking for opinions. What do you think, dear readers?

You can find more information about the competition, which is being held for the eleventh time by Callwey Verlag, here.
