 Pittoreske Flußgottheit in /

Picturesque River Deity

Among German football fans there is the term “Allesfahrer”. This refers to those hardcore fans who always follow their team everywhere, even to the supposedly least important friendly match at the farthest end of the world.

Sometimes I wish I were a HOLIDAYARCHITECTURE “Allesfahrer”. And, as in the case of the holiday accommodation Monschaubleibe (Picture: Yvonne Kirch), I wouldn’t have to travel to anywhere near the end of the world. Because in a few hours I can (actually) reach the small town of Monschau in western Germany, more precisely in the Rur-Eifel region.

Then I would wander through the medieval alleys of the historic old town and explore the Hohes Venn-Eifel Nature Park or take a short trip to Aachen and neighbouring Belgium. Or I would always just sit on the balcony and gaze at the river Rur.

I wouldn’t have to worry about the accommodation itself anyway. We have known and appreciated the host Anke Nuxoll-Oster, a cheerful soul par excellence from the Rhineland, for a very long time as a tireless, creative “collector of houses”.

– Ulrich Stefan Knoll, CCO HOLIDAYARCHITECTURE

PS: Dear readers, which picture do you dream of?

Much of HOLIDAYARCHITECTURE’s work involves dealing with visual material. Sometimes there is a picture that particularly appeals to us – a photo that surprises us, fascinates us, or simply forces us to pay even more attention to a house or look at it from a different perspective. You can find this in our new series “One Picture”.

This lovingly renovated half-timbered house is idyllically situated in the historic old town of Monschau. Old elements from the 17th century have been restored and form a successful liaison with the modern furnishings.
