Time Out

Every day I deal with many impressive architectural and interior photos for HOLIDAYARCHITECTURE. Before, during and after this work at my desk, I have to deal with low flying baby food spoons, leaking nappies and sometimes a deafening noise or in the afternoon the children are at the playground – beaming with joy! – completely caked in sand. And in the evening, all they want before they go to sleep is to hear the same unicorn story for the hundredth time.

So, often at the end of my day, all I wish for is to sit in the Baumhaus am Taxhof (Photo: Susanne Gapp), gaze at the mountains around Zell am See and simply switch off. Time out from everyday life and just to think one thought to the end, before the next “Mamaaaa!” rings out.  Just me, a cup of tea and my favourite chocolate.

Maybe next weekend I’ll just lie in bed for a few minutes longer in the morning and dream about the rustling of the leaves in the old maple trees on either side of the Baumhaus. And about waking up to the fresh mountain air and the sound of the birds. Meanwhile in the next room the first children’s radio play blares out at 6.30 a.m.

- Anne-Birga Niepelt studied interior design and at HOLIDAYARCHITECTURE she makes sure that everything online is as it should be.

Much of HOLIDAYARCHITECTURE’s work involves dealing with visual material. Sometimes there is a picture that particularly appeals to us – a photo that surprises us, fascinates us, or simply forces us to pay even more attention to a house or look at it from a different perspective. You can find this in our new series “One Picture”.
