Shielded by two mighty 500-year-old maple trees, the Baumhaus (Tree House) stands on a mountain slope on the edge of Austria’s High Tauern National Park. Perched on stilts, the house itself also reaches into the sky – its 55 square meters of living space spread across three levels. The middle level is the entrance floor, complete with a kitchen and bathroom (including a sauna). Half a flight of stairs down leads you to the living area, while half a flight of stairs up takes you to the sleeping gallery.
The Baumhaus will appeal to all your senses: the wonderful views of the surrounding mountain landscape are a feast for the eyes, which you can enjoy from the bathtub or sauna, from the sitting window in the living area or from the bed in the gallery. Scents of spruce wood fill the air and the careful selection of materials, such as the smooth, natural stone kitchen surfaces, the sleeping niche under the stairs lined with loden material, and the carved wood surfaces with their built-in compartments and niches, will delight your sense of touch. The branches of the trees are within easy reach, which means the rustling of the leaves and pleasant birdsong will be the soundtrack to your holiday.
