At an altitude of 1,113 metres above sea level, in the midst of the Hohe Tauern mountains near the village of Piesendorf, this house rises above the everyday. The air is rich with the scent of pine forests. And in its peaceful, unspoilt natural surroundings, this house is simple and yet luxurious. Munich architect Andreas Mack has used natural materials and warm colours to create an idyllic nest – “a home for sun worshippers”. The “Spatzennest” (sparrows’ nest) has room for three people and the “Schwalbennest” (swallows’ nest) can comfortably accommodate four. And what makes it really special is that you can go tobogganing here even in the summer!
What to do
A hiking tour to the "Schmittenhöhe" starts just outside the door. Aufberg 1113 is situated between the ski-resorts Zell am See, Kitzsteinhorn and Saalbach Hinterglemm. In summer, the Grossglockner High Alpine Road provides for wonderful sightseeing trips.
