Reading tip: Tree Wanted — How the House Gains from a Tree

This is an article from our archive. It was published in July 2022, so some details may no longer be up to date.

“If I were allowed to enact a single building law, it would be as simple as strict: anyone who builds a house must plant a stately tree next to it,” says Annette Spiro, Professor of Architecture and Construction at ETH Zurich since 2007.

You can read more about her thoughts on the subject of building and trees in her article (German only), which was published by Swiss Journal for Architecture and Urbanism werk, bauen +wohnen.
