Reopening of the Neue Natio­nal­ga­lerie

The Neue Natio­nal­ga­lerie, designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and a glo­bally admired archi­tec­tural icon, cele­brated its reopening in August 2021 after six years of reno­vation.

On view, among other things, is the exhi­bition “The Neue Natio­nal­ga­lerie. Its Architect and Building History” (22 August 2021 to 2 July 2023), which is dedi­cated to the building history of the New National Gallery and the work of its architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. The two focal points are the con­s­truction period (1965–1968) and the basic reno­vation by David Chip­per­field Archi­tects in the last six years (2015–2021). Sel­ected works of art from the coll­ection of the National Gallery that relate to the archi­tecture of the museum com­plement the docu­mentary exhi­bition. Further infor­mation
