Mavro vouni invites you to the heart of the Cycladic island of Sifnos. A quiet, magical place on a black rock, surrounded by gnarled olive trees, small terraces and the flickering of nature, – the Aegean Sea at your feet.
Once rich in gold and silver, Sifnos today stands out above all for its natural beauty and the treasure trove of its traditions. The holiday property consists of two elongated buildings that fit into the terrain of the sunny slope in shape and volume and echo the natural stone walls of the surrounding area through the materials used. This creates the impression that the two houses have always stood on the black rock that also gives the accommodation its name. From up here, you have a view of the whole island and yet remain hidden yourself. Whenever you feel like it, you can stroll along the many mule tracks to the surrounding villages. The valley leads to the sea.
The plastered and whitewashed house accommodates two bedrooms with double beds and a bathroom. The façade, floors and walls of the main house are made of natural stone from the property itself. Here you will find the kitchen-living room and another bedroom with double bed and bathroom. The terrace, which runs around the buildings, opens up various seating and lounging areas and flows into a spacious area with an elongated pool in front of the natural backdrop. Next to it, a large pergola provides shelter and offers space for sporting activities – from shadow boxing to yoga.
The walls inside were plastered with clay, which ensures a pleasant indoor climate. The furnishings are bright, natural and reduced to the essentials. All parts, old and new, have been carefully selected and come from local craftsmen as far as possible: from the floor and wall tiles made of handmade ceramics to the brick shelves, the rustic wooden furniture and airy raffia lamps. A coherent overall concept that takes into account the landscape, traditions and the people who live here.
